This is a useful program for ensuring that your HireTrack NX Address Book does not get cluttered with duplicate companies and people that have been entered with slightly different names by users who have the permissions to add Address Book entries on the fly. This can particularly cause problems if you have the same customer entered many times and two of those entries have their "account on hold". It can also distort any customer specific reports and financial documentation.
The Address Book Tidy-up utility allows you to filter / search for entries in the Address Book based on chunks of text you enter. In this respect it works just like the search facility in the Popstock window. You hit the space bar to active the search or click the Search... button. Once you have a list you can select the actual company or person, followed by selecting the duplicate companies or people (use Shift + Click to multi-select).
You will then use the Merge companies button to then move over all the jobs, invoices, purchase orders, crewing, etc. that you have ever created against the duplicate companies or people to the actual company. The duplicates can then be marked as "deleted" or permanently deleted by selecting from the Actions Window. It's usually recommended to permanently delete the duplicate companies.
There is also a facility to clear all blank companies or people in the database, i.e. entries with no name.
