Configure Equipment to be Tested

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

After you have configured your tests, the next step is to assign tests to the types of equipment that have been defined in the Equipment Book. You must assign a test to a type of equipment before you can perform the tests in Testing & Servicing. All the items of a given type will be tested using the schedules that are set-up in the testing modules.

To configure your equipment tests:

1.        Tab: Testing16

 Testing17

2.        Select a type of equipment from the grid either by scrolling or by using the search facility.

3.        In Tests, select three manual tests from the drop down menus.

4.        Select the type of tests that are required for this type (electrical and/or physical), and select a test from the appropriate drop down menu.

5.        Enter the test interval for this type of equipment. Select how you wish this interval to be measured.. either by calendar days or by number of jobs. The test interval is used for two functions:

a.It is used as a filter to help you find equipment that is due for testing.
b.If an item has exceeded its test interval, or if the test interval will be exceeded while it is out on a particular job*, then the item cannot be scanned out until it has been tested and it has passed its tests.

* a special exception is made for equipment on long term hire: if the hire period exceeds the test interval period then you can scan the equipment out. However, the equipment will not be exempt from PAT testing. The Testing Module allows to keep track of these items so that they can be tested on site if necessary.

The routine service interval option is used as a filter in the Testing & Servicing pages of the Testing module. It allows you to set a default servicing schedule for each type of equipment. However, it doesn’t stop items which are due for a  service from being scanned out.
